Many Ohio employers, both public and private, are required to perform background checks on new hires and individuals obtaining professional licenses. The Attorney General's Office's Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI) completes such background checks by comparing fingerprints received against a database of criminal fingerprints to determine if there is a criminal record.
Finger Printing
All fingerprints must be submitted to BCI through WebCheck or card scan unless exemption reasons are met. With this said, the Brookville Police Department does not have the capability to provide WebCheck fingerprinting services. We can provide you with a list of businesses that offer WebCheck services.
We can provide rolled/inked prints only (must have a photo ID) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Often times we find that rolled/inked prints are rejected by the FBI and BCI due to clarity. One way to avoid delays in processing would be to select an agency that provides AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems). We can also provide you with a list of AFIS locations in Montgomery County.
Background Check Fees & Hours
There is no charge for fingerprinting services if you reside within the City of Brookville or are employed within the city. For all others, the charge is $15 per card. Local (City of Brookville) background checks can be done Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and again, there is no charge for our residents with a photo ID.
